Buzzzy Amsterdam

The theme for the 2025 GMTK Game Jam was “Loop”
My team-mate and I decided to create a game where the player had to pedal a bike like in a real one, pressing A when the pedal Is on the left, and D when it is right. With the mouse, the player controlls the Y-translation.
The better the player pedals, the faster they get, and the harder it is for the bee to catch up to them, which would ultimately mean they loose the game.
We also added a mechanic where the terrain loops infinitely and every time the player crosses the “loop-threshold” a version of them from the past loop would be added to the road, to add obstacles to the track.
Sadly this mechanic ended up not being very intuitive.

The Way Of Kings

(Yes I love Brandon Sanderson)
During my summer break in 2023, I decided I wanted to learn Unity.
I then spent the next month doing little more than that, having discovered that I really enjoyed the aspect of being able to make something playable with your art, as well as coding in C#, which came easy to me having had a bit of experience with C++ before.
The game I made, was not something i planned with a GDD or anything, but just the result of testing different mechanics, and slowly combining them to a coherent game.
I ended up with a turn-based game where each player tries to either catch the other player or their flag, while trying to stay safe on their color’s tiles.
